How You Doin’? A Summer Sanity Check for Moms

I paused long enough to watch this bird look for its food while I was on vacation.

Here in Texas, we’re almost halfway through summer, and I just wanted to channel my inner Joey Tribbiani and ask, “How you doin’?” Except, let’s be real, you’re probably answering that while a craft is drying on your dining table, the laundry is still in the dryer, and today you Googled to find a new pair of earbuds because the ones you currently own are so well loved they need to be replaced (thanks to all the active kid noise in the house).

Here’s your gentle reminder: You’re allowed to pause. You don’t need to schedule every second or morph into a full-time activity director. Boredom builds character. Also…quiet. So much quiet. You deserve some too.

Mindful Coaching Questions

  • What would make you feel like you're having a summer too—not just managing everyone else’s?

  • What’s something you can drop (guilt-free) from your to-do list this week?

  • When’s your next moment of alone time—and can it involve coffee and not answering any questions?

Mid-summer might be messy, but so are the best memories—give yourself some grace along the way.

Until next time, enjoy the journey!
