Memorial Day Reflections: Honoring Loved Ones Who Served

The AT-6A World War II "Texan" airplane at the Bob Bullock Museum

Memorial Day is more than a day off, it’s a time to reflect and honor those who gave in service to our country.

Today, we especially want to recognize the brave family members—parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends (adopted family!)—who proudly stood up for our country. Whether they served decades ago or yesterday, their courage and commitment are part of our family story and our national legacy.

Their sacrifices allowed us to enjoy the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. And while we may go about our day with barbecues, parades, swimming, or time with loved ones, we carry their memories with us. We remember their strength, their dedication, and their willingness to serve something bigger than themselves.

Together, we give thanks to the heroes in our families. Let’s carry their spirit forward—say a thank-you, teach your kids their story, or fly a flag in their honor.

Until next time, enjoy the journey!
